Dear Swimzone Racing Members,

Re: Team Manager Appointments for the 2011/12 season

The 2010/2011season has been great and we have lots of successes to be very proud of! We are now about to launch into another fantastic season!

Based on results from the SZR club survey, feedback from coaches, swimmers and team managers the pilot of the 2010/2011 year team management structure has been highly successful. SZR board have approved recommendations for the 2011/2012 season made by the Development Subcommittee (DSC) and Swimzone.

These include the following:

1. Swimzone Racing will continue to use a team management structure for the 2011/2012 year.

2. Swimzone Racing teams will be laid on top of the squads this year rather than across them as they were last year. Thismeans that a swimmer will be in a team that aligns with their squad. The 2011/12 Swimzone squad structure is more in line with last year’s Swimzone Racing team management structure than in 2010. The squads have qualifying times and commitment requirements built in to their selection criteria.

3. More details of the teams will follow but briefly the Swimzone Racing Teams for 2011/2012 will be as follows:

- New Entrance/Stingrays

· Swimmers new to the club or in the Stingray squad.

- Killer Whale Gold

· Swimmers whose times are close to 2012 Junior National qualifying times (exact times yet to be determined)

- Killer Whale Silver

· All other swimmers who are in the Killer Whale squad

- Barracuda Gold

· Swimmers who have 2012 Junior National qualifying times

- Barracuda Silver

· All swimmers aged 14 years and under in the Mako squad

- Mako 15 years and over

· All swimmers aged 15 years and over in the Mako squad

NOTE for Mako Teams

ii. Swimmers in both of these teams who have times close to DIV 1 times (within 1.5 s of a 50m, 5 s for a 100m, 7.5s for a 200m and 10s for a 400m event) will be called “Redliners”.

- Orca

The team managers for 2011/2012 will be appointed by the Development Co-ordinator, Head coach and coach of each team. We now welcome expressions of interest from anyone who is interested in a team manager position for the upcoming season. Can anyone who would like to be considered or find out more about a team manager position please contact me by Monday May 23rd.
